"We can be assured of this:  God, who knows all and sees all, will set all
things straight in the end.  Even better, He will dry every tear."
- Richard Foster

From: Michelle Barnum

"Hope is not pretending that troubles don't exist.  It is the trust
that they will not last forever-- that hurts will be healed and difficulties
overcome."
(Author Unknown)

From: Becky Myers

 When life is small
 and we've just begun,
 We start a song
 that has never been sung.
 And how it ends depends
on us, and that is why
 "In God We Trust."

 Becky Myers

I wrote this poem about 20 years ago. I hope that by sharing it with
anyone who is having a tough time, will remember to turn to Our Father
in Heaven and because he loves us so much he will heal us and lift our
burdens. We just have to Trust in him!  I share this with a prayer and
hope that the future will be bright!

From: Myria B Patterson

"Only you can change what you see"
(Author Unknown)

From: Nikki Tedders

"There's an old Christian tradition that God sends each person
into this world with a special message to deliver,
with a special song to sing for others,
with a special act of love to bestow.
No one else can speak my message,
or sing my song, or offer my act of love.
These have been entrusted only to me.

According to this tradition,
the message may be spoken, the song sung,
the act of love delivered only to a few,
or to all the people in a small town,
or to all the people in a large city,
or even to all the people in the whole world.
It all depends on God's unique plan for each unique person.

So from my heart, I want to say this to you:
Please believe that you have an important message to deliver,
you have a beautiful song to sing,
and a unique act of love to warm this world
and to brighten its darkness.

And when the final history of this world is written,
your message, your song, and your love
will be recorded gratefully and forever."

God so loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ;
that whosever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16)

I hope this quote will help the youth to realize this is just a
temporary state, the life hereafter is more important.

From: Dorothy (KS)

I received this from a friend:

"Never close your lips to those to whom you
have opened your heart."  Charles Dickens

It means a great deal to me and has to do with carrying through on promises
of listening, "being there" for someone as we promised, and so forth.

From: Rachel M Hancock

"What is this thing that men call death,
This quiet passing in the night?
Tis not the end, but genesis
Of better worlds and greater light..."
     -President Gordon B. Hinckley-

From: Robert Sandberg

Alma 3:26-27

"... according to the spirit which they listed to obey..."

On the day of the Littleton shootings I returned home and began to
search the Book of Mormon in an effort to gain some peace and
understanding in regards to the terrible news.  I came across this quote
and it penetrated deep into my heart.

It is talking about a time in history when many lives were cut off in
the short period of just one year.  I found myself asking many
questions.  What spirit were the gunmen listing to obey in their short
lives?  What spirit's were the victims listing to obey when their lives
were cut off?  What spirit do I list to obey?  When and where are people
exposed to the various spirit's that may influence them?  Yes, there is
much of evil and destruction around us.  It hurts when bad influences
turn into bad actions.  Of course it isn't fair that innocent people
suffer.  But suffering doesn't have to be the end.  There are rewards
for those who endure it well.  Pain can turn to understanding and
emptiness can be filled with gratitude, love and memories.  The dead are
not lost nor is their fate sealed.

God bless the children of Littleton.

From: "Sheila DuBois"

Here is my Favorite Scripture. It is Not a Quote but it helped me Greatly when my son died from Cancer when he was 8 yrs old, it was 7 yrs. ago.
My heart goes out to the community in Colorado.

 D & C 58:2-5
"2 For verily I say unto you, blessed is he that keepeth my commandments,
whether in life or in death; and he that is faithful in tribulation, the
reward of the same is greater in the kingdom of heaven.
3 Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the
design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and
the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.
4 For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh
that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but is nigh
at hand.
5 Remember this, which I tell you before, that you may lay it to heart,
and receive that which is to follow."

From: "Smock"

Be kind and merciful. Let no one ever come to you without
coming away better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness:
kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile,
kindness in your warm greeting....To children, to the poor, to all who
suffer and are lonely, give always a happy smile--Give them not only your
care, but also your heart. - Mother Teresa

From: "Susan Badgett"
"It is my feeling that, after all is said and done,
it will be the intent of the heart by which we shall be judged."
- H. Burke Peterson, Ensign May 1985, pg. 67

From: UFCBCS
"I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported
in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be
lifted up at the last day."  Alma 36:3

From: Vanessa in Escondido

"No matter how difficult the trail, and regardless of how heavy our load,
we can take comfort in knowing that others before us have borne life's most
grievous trials and tragedies by looking to heaven for peace, comfort, and
hopeful assurance."

Elder M. Russell Ballard, Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles  (167th
Annual General Conference, April 1997, Sunday Morning session)

From: ACPurdon

"Those who do not believe in miracles do not recognize one when they
receive one.  I believe, therefore I receive."

From: KMRadford

"There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of one
small candle." (unknown)

From: "Wendy Stout"

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are small
matters to what lies within us."
 - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Men often become what they believe themselves to be.  If I
believe I cannot do something, it makes me incapable of doing it.
But when I believe I can, then I acquire the ability to do it
even if I didn't have it in the beginning."
 - Mohandas Gandhi

"The time is always right to do what is right."
 - Martin Luther King, Jr.

"As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others."
 - Marianne Williamson

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment
that something else is more important than fear."
 - Ambrose Redmoon

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet.  Only
through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be
strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved."
 - Helen Keller

"I know God will not give me anything I can't Handle.
I just wish that he didn't trust me so much."
 - Mother Teresa

Learn to get in touch with the silence within yourself, and
know that everything  in this life has purpose. There are no
mistakes, no coincidences.   All events are blessings given to us
 to learn from."
- Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

From: Cari C Horton

One of my favorites.  Given to me when I was hurt by someone else....

"No, special child -God did not plan that you should suffer so that you could grow. He did not wish it so. It was free agency, not God, that endows you with
a less than perfect life. But knowing that free agency sometimes creates
a less than perfect life, he gives you strength to bear what you could
not bear alone, and in that bearing you have grown. Your premortal spirit
once accepted what mortal life would provide so that you could be
His Special Child." -anonomous.

From: Betty, of Lakewood, adjacent to Columbine Colorado

Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek,
  to be consoled as to console;
  to be understood, as to understand;
  to be loved, as to love;
  for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
an it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
             St. Francis of Assisi

From: Sara Regnier

"Behold your little ones. Pray with them. Pray for them and bless them.
The world into which they are moving is a complex and difficult world.
They will run into heavy seas of adversity. They will need all the
strength and all the faith you can give them while they are yet near you.
While they are young, pray with them that they may come to know that
source of strength which shall then always be taught of the Lord' and
great shall be the peace of thy children."
(Isaiah 5413)

Gordon B. Hinckley   (Ensign, November 1978, page 20)

From: Sister Leah Stallard, Grand Junction, Colorado

"It is not difficult to understand why the great God in heaven has reserved
these special spirits for the final works of the kingdom prior to his
millennial reign... This generation will face trials and troubles that will
exceed those of their pioneer forebearers.  Our generation has had some
respite from the foe.  The future generation will have little or none...
This is a chosen generation... I believe today's youth will lead the youth
of the world through the most trying time in history."
- Vaughan J. Featherstone
