"When those trials are not consequences of your disobedience, they are
evidence that the Lord feels you are prepared to grow more."
--- Elder Richard G. Scott

From: "Dave & Peggy Martin"

Put everything in the Lord's hand, and eventually you will see the
Lord's hand in everything.

FAITH is not knowing WHAT the future holds, but knowing WHO holds the future.

Elder Robert D. Hales said:

"We must surrender ourselves to the Lord.  In doing so, we give up
whatever is causing our pain and turn everything over to Him."  He
also counseled us to be patient as healing comes in the Lord's time
and the Lord's way.

7. My son, peace be unto thy soul;
     thine adversity and thine afflictions
     shall be but a small moment;
8. And then, if thou endure it well, God
shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt
triumph over all thy foes. (D&C 121:7-8)

God won't always remove the darkness, but He will accompany us
through it.

Elder Orson F. Witney wrote:

"No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted.  It
ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as
patience, faith, fortitude, and humility.  All that we suffer and all
that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our
characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us
more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of
God..... and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and
tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to
acquire."

Our hearts and prayers are with you, Columbine.

Love,

28. Come unto me, all ye that labor and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn
of me; for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30. For my yoke is easy, and my burden
     is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)

It is always sunrise somewhere.  -John Muir

Few men during their lifetime comes anywhere near exhausting the
resources dwelling within them. There are deep wells of strength that
are never used. -Richard E. Byrd

If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come.
   ---Chinese Proverb

There are depths in the sea which the storms that lash the surface into
fury never reach. They who reach down into the depths of life where, in
the stillness, the voice of God is heard, have the stabilizing power
which carries them poised and serene through the hurricane of difficulties.
--- Spencer W. Kimball

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.  Hate cannot
drive out hate; only love can do that. -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by
embracing one another. -Luciano de Crescenzo

Stand up to crises. Don't let them throw you! Fight to stay calm... even
surmount the crisis completely and turn it into an opportunity. Refuse
to renounce your self-image. No matter what happens, you must keep
your good opinion of yourself. No matter what happens, you must hold your
past successes in your imagination, ready for showing in the motion
picture screen of your mind. No matter what happens, no matter what
you lose, no matter what failures you must endure, you must keep faith in
yourself. Then you can stand up to crises, with calm and courage,
refusing to buckle; then you will not fall through the floor. You will be able to support yourself.
--- Maxwell Maltz

Self acceptance comes from meeting life's challenges vigorously.  Don't
numb yourself to your trials and difficulties, nor build mental walls to
exclude pain from your life.  You will find peace not by trying to
escape your problems, but by confronting them courageously.  You will find
peace not in denial, but in victory. -J. Donald Walters

People are like stained glass windows.  They glow and sparkle when it is
sunny and bright; but when the sun goes down their true beauty is
revealed only if there is a light from within.
