"Life is fragile and therefore, should be handled with prayer."
(President Harold B. Lee)

"As daunting as the future may seem to young people sometimes, we
can acquire a gospel oriented outlook of optimism and hope."
(Elder Jack H. Goaslind, Ensign, April 1997, pg. 22)

"Be believing. Be happy. Don't get discouraged. Things will work out."
(President Gordon B. Hinckley, Ensign, April 1997, pg. 27)

From: "Bruce A. Elliott"

I carry this in my wallet, hope it is what you are looking for,

Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the wrong.
Sometime in life you will have been all of these.
With a personal vision, you are in the driver's seat. The clarity,
context, and focus that develop is powerful.
Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that they are special.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are of your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, to noble for anger too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
I expect to pass through this world but once;
Any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show
to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

<Richard L. Evan' Quote Book>

Life moves in one direction only -- and each day we are faced with an
actual set of circumstances, not with what might have been not with what we
might have done, but with what is, and with where we are now -- and from this
point we must proceed:  not from where we were, not from where we wish
we were -- but from where we are.   Richard L. Evans     p  65

Who walks a road with love will never walk that road alone again.
Charles Thomas Davis   p 145

I am more and more convinced that our happiness depends far more on the
way we meet the events of life than on the nature of those events
themselves. Frederich H. Humboldt    p 149

Courage is the greatest of all the virtues, because if you haven't
courage, you may not have an opportunity to use any of the others.
Samuel Johnson p 159

A man is most vulnerable when he shuts himself away from those to who he
should keep closest.   Richard L. Evans   p 200

FROM:       GOD

DATE:       April 21, 1999

Dear Parents, Friends and Loved Ones,
Of these precious youth you've lost,
 I see your broken spirits,
 I know the terrible cost.

 Although I'm not allowed,
 In schools across our land,
They can't keep me from loving kids,
 And offering them my hand.

 Though evil reigned at Columbine,
 And horror filled the air,
I wanted all of you to know,
I left Heaven and came there.

 I summoned Heaven's Angels,
Long before the call came in,
 To share the dreadful warning,
 Of what would soon begin.

 The angels' wings were folded,
They knew what was to come,
When I said, "I'll lead this mission."
 They followed one by one.

"I will go and get these babies,
And bring them home with me,
Where they'll live in Heaven's Schoolhouse,
Where it's safe and terror free."

Yes, I've prepared a Special Schoolhouse,
It stands out from all the rest,
 The Welcome Mat reads, "Columbine,"
 It's reserved for Heaven's best.
I was hovering all around them,
In the Library and the Hall,
 When the evil forces entered,
 Your children heard me call.

I wrapped my arms around them,
Pulled them close unto my breast,
"I've come to take you with me,
We must go and leave the rest."

 "Your friends will long remember,
All the cool times that we shared,
And the Angels will remind them,
 How very much you cared."

Yes, I took those precious children,
In the twinkling of an eye,
We were on our way to Heaven,
To their Schoolhouse in the sky.

I know your hearts are broken,
I know the pain you bear,
 My heart is also broken,
 By the evil  everywhere.

Please help me fight this battle,
 To keep our children safe,
Through prayers and love and sharing,
 And holding to the Faith,

That Peace will surely reign one day,
 In schools throughout the lands,
For all our future hopes and dreams,
 Rest in our students' hands.

I'll give you peace to fill your heart,
Send sun to break the night,
Provide the strength to move beyond,
The wrongs and do what's right.

You ask how I can know your pain,
From the loss of your dear one,
It's because it seems like yesterday,
When I, too gave up a Son.

 I love you,
 God.

 PS...
Tell all the kids about my Son!
They don't all know Him yet.

From: "Karen Kunz"

"Every man and every person who lives in this world wields an influence,
whether for good or for evil.  It is not what he says alone; it is not
alone what he does.  It is what he is.  Every man, every person radiates
what he or she really is . . . .  It is what we are and what we radiate
that affects the people around us."
