December 30, 2008 Some have supposed that trials

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

“”Some have supposed that trials are reserved only for the disobedient. But the scriptures make it clear that even the humble and obedient will face tribulation. Experience is a great teacher, and sometimes our hardest experiences can be our greatest teachers (see D&C 122:7). This may be why we are commanded to give thanks for all things (see Eph. 5:20). Some blessings come to us painfully. But the Lord promises that ‘he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious’ (D&C 78:19).”

Hello Mr. Nurmela:
I am Scott from Taiwan. I started reciving the “WOW” since last month. And I found that it’s really good to me. I know there are a lot of meanings of those “WOW” letters. And I am really appricated those people who wrote these sentence cause some of them really means something to me. Everytime when I read those letters, I feel grateful and placeful. It comes from my heart. It sounds like the voice which is telling me something I may lose or never had again. It teached me a lot. I want to say ” Thank You”. with my best wish for you and your family.(I hope you can read my English. My English is not good enough. I am working on that!)
Have an nice day!

Dear Mr. Nurmela,
God bless you.

I have received some of your daily quoted words and I like them. I am moved by your warm heart to spread God’s message and the firm faith to do the holy work overcoming so many afflictions.

I am a Chinese Christian, wanting to do something for the Gospel. I send some articles about the Bible to you and hope they can bring you some light and energy. I want you know, no matter what you meet, happiness or sadness, suffering or comfort, abuse or praise, in the place far away from you, there are many people pray for you, may God’s name be gloried everywhere.

If I can do something, please feel free to make me know and I will try my best to do for the Gospel.
Yours Lily

Dear Brother Denis,

I’ve been your subscribed for quite a while, I believe that for more then a year, but never actually did sent you words of my appreciation. You might remember me, few times we’ve chatted on the net, and I had few questions to you before. But I never said words of thanks to you, and should first apologize to you for my selfishness.

I live in Moscow, Russia. I’ve been member of the church since it’s beginning, when missionaries been sent to Russia in beginning of 90ties. I’ve had different kinds of callings. For last year most of my callings in church were connected to the teaching, and I was teaching and giving talks on almost every Sunday of last year, as well as sometimes during the week. I want to thank you for your quotes, for all this wonderful work you do here on the net. I want to tell you that I been using your quotes in most of my lessons and talks; after revising scriptures, few books and manuals I usually use, I always went to your site, and checked out all the quotes you have on that particular topic. Your search engine always was wonderful source of help and inspiration.

Besides, many of my friends, brothers and sisters in church received answers to their questions, courage in their trials after receiving some quotes you’ve been sending before. Thank you! We all love you, we all love your service, and I always was praying that you could have enough strength and patience in doing your uneasy work. May Lord bless you and your family.

Keep up good work! I know you don’t have many Russian subscribers, but if someday you’ll be planning to send out quotes in Russian, always remember me as volunteer.
Sincerely,
your Russian brother in Christ,
Ivan Makarov
